About Xinyue

​

Xinyue Chen is an illustrator and book artist based in New York. Their works explore emotions, memories, identities and people’s connection with the environment in a poetic way. Most of their works are done in traditional media. 

​

Although coming from a fine art background, they found narrative-driven art allows them to communicate with their audience better. They have been involved in bookmaking since 2020 and created several books with original writing and illustrations.

​

Since receiving their BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and their MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York, they have provided editorial illustrations, book illustrations and designs for many renowned clients, and provided a unique, emotional and atmospheric approach to their assignments. 

A selected list of clients include the New York Times, Scientific American, NBC News, AARP, NPR, Bloomberg, Asia Society.
