Henrike Lendowski is an award winning animator and illustrator working between the realms of analog and digital art. Her work addresses a variety of cultural, social and political issues, she is particularly interested in environmental problems and
the protection of endangered species. Henrike uses her skills to create thought provoking visual experiences.
One of the most recognized works by the artist is the animation Diminuendo. Diminuendo visualizes the detrimental effects plastic waste has on marine life and the environment from an emotional point of view. Through visual metaphors, the viewer is guided through sceneries that become more and more congested by plastic. To emphasize the contrast between the natural world and the polluting debris, the animation is done entirely with ink on paper, except for the plastic, which stands apart from the oceanic life in bright digital yellow. Diminuendo has won six awards and has been selected to be screened at over 50 film festivals around the world!

Henrike gracefully tackles and never shies away from difficult subject matters, as shown in her recent work for Sierra magazine, which illustrates a text covering stories from the survivors who experienced the LA Fires and Hurricane Helene.

Henrike has the ability to create illustrations brimming with nostalgia, transporting you to a place perhaps you have never been but would love to visit. Here the artist takes you for a stroll in the park on a snowy day. We are walking through the woods, collecting chestnuts, leaves crunching beneath our feet and finally, she brings us to her favourite cafe Nook, in Brooklyn.
Although Henrike has a knack for creating stunning illustrations and animations depicting the natural world, her talents don’t end there. She is a versatile artist who is always ready for a new challenge and a skilled conceptual illustrator who can translate any text into a compelling visual.
